Paper & Palette Studio embraces sustainability in each product, working with nature by experimenting with recyclable materials from beads to paper clay. Kimberly, the founder of Paper & Palette Studio, strives to create beautifully one-of-a-kind pieces that each have their own story. Her favorite piece, the paper floral ear cuff, truly embodies the beauty found in nature by being a literal representation of it and also being created from it. Her products range from decorative cups and bowls that are the perfect accent pieces for any room to statement jewelry that compliments any outfit. What inspired you to start your business? What’s your story? (Limit: 200 words)
Paper & Palette Studio began with a simple idea: to create something beautiful without costing the earth. As a self-taught watercolour artist with a background in sustainability, I was drawn to the quiet potential of paper—often overlooked, yet endlessly versatile. What started as an experiment at my kitchen table slowly evolved into a collection of wearable art and homewares, each piece carefully crafted by hand.
At the heart of my work is a commitment to slowing down fashion and rethinking materials. I transform paper into earrings, bowls, and accessories, embracing traditional techniques like hand-painting and paper crafting. Offcuts are never wasted—they’re reimagined into paper clay, continuing a closed-loop process within my studio.
Inspired by nature, soft botanicals, and the colours of shifting skies, my designs reflect a gentle, intentional approach to making. Imperfections are welcomed as part of the handmade story, connecting each piece to the hands that created it.

What’s one of your favorite things you’ve made? Feel free to share what inspired it, how you made it, and why it’s your favorite!
My favourite piece is a paper floral ear cuff.
This piece is one of my favourites because it began with a desire to push paper beyond its traditional limits. I wanted to create something truly beautiful—something that felt refined, with a quiet nod to nature and a sense of understated luxury.
It became a creative challenge: combining paper, recycled beads, and delicate wire work into a piece that sits somewhere between jewellery and art. Each element was carefully considered, not just for how it looked, but for how it moved and flowed together.
My love of botanical watercolour painting is woven throughout the design. I wanted the florals to feel true to nature—soft, layered, and organic—while still being thoughtfully composed. The shape was equally important; it needed to follow the natural curve of the ear, enhancing rather than overpowering.
The result is a piece that reflects everything I value in my work: sustainability, craftsmanship, and a deep appreciation for the beauty found in nature.
What are your thoughts on the importance of sustainability for small businesses? If you use eco-friendly packaging, we’d love to hear how—whether that’s paper holders for your jewelry, cardboard shipping boxes, or anything else. If you don’t yet, what are your future hopes or has CCT influenced your perspective in any way?
Sustainability sits at the heart of Paper & Palette Studio. Each piece is thoughtfully created using recycled and responsibly sourced materials, with a focus on reducing waste wherever possible. Watercolour paper offcuts are never discarded—they’re repurposed into paper clay or smaller designs, supporting a closed-loop approach within my studio.
I prioritise low-impact materials and processes, choosing hand techniques over mass production and avoiding unnecessary plastics wherever I can. My sealants and finishes lean toward natural options, and I’m always exploring more environmentally conscious alternatives.
Packaging is kept minimal and eco-friendly, using recyclable and compostable materials to ensure pieces arrive beautifully without excess waste. I also work with local suppliers where possible, reducing the environmental footprint of my materials.
Every piece is made slowly and intentionally, embracing the principles of sustainable design—creating items that are not only beautiful, but meaningful and made to last.
